SEM AGM May 12th @ Sutton Place - Clarification

Upcoming Events | Apr 14, 2008

Monday, 14 April 2008

Dear Colleagues,

I must apologize for the confusion regarding the BCMA Section of Emergency Medicine Annual General Meeting.  We will be having our AGM in the same format as we have had the last few years.  A morning session of three or four educational speakers, lunch, an opportunity to see a series of displays from supporting companies and our annual general meeting of the section in the afternoon after lunch.  The meeting will occur as advertised in my President's Letter and in subsequent emails: on Monday May 12th. The venue has changed to the Sutton Place Hotel (845 Burrard Street, between Smithe and Robson, on the west side of the street) on the ground floor, meeting room The Pommard Room.

Dr. Joe Finkler has done a great deal of work setting up this conference and the venue for our AGM.  He had been approached by the Washington ACEP group who had wanted to develop a collaborative relationship with their BC colleagues.  The confusion has arisen because the brochure for the Washington ACEP (Emergency Medicine without Borders) Conference was sent to you over a week ago. The details of our conference are only now being finalized.

The Washington ACEP conference runs for two days at the same hotel, but is not linked to our conference other than geographically.  The idea was that those physicians staying in town overnight before or after our AGM could mingle and interact with visiting US colleagues if the two conferences were held simultaneously at the same venue.

For those of you who have already signed up for the Washington Conference, I apologize for this regrettable confusion.  I will arrange with the Washington ACEP to allow refunds.

Our brochure should be ready within the next two days.  Please make every effort to come to our section AGM in Vancouver on Monday, May 12th at the Sutton Place Hotel, beginning with a continental breakfast in The Pommard Room.  Please register with Gabrielle Lynch-Staunton when you receive our conference email; registration will also be possible on site on the day of the conference.

Sincerely,

David Haughton
Section of Emergency Medicine, President
